Chronic pain is more than discomfort—it’s a persistent condition that can disrupt sleep, work, social life, and overall well-being. For many, conventional treatments like medications, injections, or surgery fail to provide lasting relief. When pain persists, the nervous system itself can become sensitized, amplifying signals even after tissue has healed.
Neuromodulation therapies such as Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) and Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS) offer a solution that goes beyond masking symptoms. Instead, these therapies directly influence how nerves transmit and process pain, helping patients regain function and improve quality of life.
Patients begin with a consultation to review medical history, prior treatments, and pain patterns. A trial phase uses temporary leads or an external wearable transmitter to test effectiveness. Patients track pain, function, sleep, and medication use. If the trial achieves meaningful relief (commonly ≥50% pain reduction), a permanent implant is recommended.
SCS involves implanting a thin electrode array near the spinal cord and connecting it to a pulse generator. Electrical stimulation modulates pain pathways, reducing pain perception and enhancing mobility.
PNS targets specific peripheral nerves responsible for localized pain. Leads are positioned near the nerve, and controlled stimulation alters pain signals in that region, which can relieve post-surgical pain, neuralgias, or region-specific chronic pain.
Curonix’s Freedom™ Systems provide both SCS and PNS options designed for patients whose chronic pain has not responded adequately to traditional therapies.
The Freedom™ System features:
Compared with conventional SCS, the Freedom system reduces paresthesia, implant size, and reoperation risk for battery replacement.
Patients often describe regaining mobility, returning to hobbies, sleeping better, and reducing medication after using the Freedom™ System.
Medication reduction: Less dependence on opioids and other systemic drugs.
Non-surgical chronic back or limb pain
Visual demonstration of implantation and patient experience can help new patients understand the process.
Post-Implant: Programming optimization, follow-up, rehabilitation, and integration into daily life.
